Shaker Heights Mayor David Weiss

Prior to serving as Mayor of Shaker Heights, David Weiss was general counsel of DDR Corp. and a partner at McDonald, Hopkins, Burke & Haber Co. LPA. He is a former member of Shaker Heights City Council and is a long-time member and current chair of the Shaker Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals.

He has served as chairman of the board of directors of The Centers for Families and Children and Circle Health Services, a not-for-profit health and human services organization. He is a past president and honorary board member of Family Connections, an early childhood and family support agency, and previously served on the board of The City Club of Cleveland and The City Club Forum Foundation, an organization which promotes free speech and civic discourse. He was also a member of the Visiting Committee of the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University.

Mayor Weiss brings a wealth of community and economic development experience as well as fiscal expertise to the mayor’s office. He has demonstrated the ability to bring groups together through collaborative leadership, finding creative solutions to challenging issues.
The Weiss Family

Mayor Weiss received his bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Michigan, and his law degree from The Ohio State University College of Law, where he was editor of the law journal and served as class president.

He is the owner of Juma Gallery, founded by his late wife, Erica, in the Sussex neighborhood of Shaker Heights. He is the proud father of Justin, a communications/government relations consultant in Washington, D.C., and Marguerite, a student at Brown University.
