Thank You

November 7, 2018

To all the voters across Shaker Heights, thank you!

I am truly humbled by the faith that you have placed in me. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your mayor. Together, we have accomplished a great deal over the past seven months. And despite the future challenges which we inevitably will face, I am incredibly excited and hopeful about the opportunities that lie ahead.

When I spoke to Julianna last night,  I told her – as I have told many of you – we both achieved our goal of setting an example to others throughout the country of how to have a competitive and spirited campaign while maintaining a civil discourse. And while we may not agree on all things, we most certainly share a deep passion and love for our community and the people who live here that has - and will continue- to keep us involved.  I look forward to working with her in the months ahead.

Our success in this election would not have been possible without the support of many people. To our volunteers and supporters from every corner of the city – thank you for your hard work, dedication and encouragement.

Special thanks go out to my core campaign team and advisors, and the many elected officials – past and current – who endorsed me. And a very special thank you to my campaign manager, Irene Meyerhoefer, whose incredible efforts and unwavering faith and confidence in me cannot be overstated!

I also want to thank my family – my children, Justin and Marguerite and my sisters and brothers-in-law – for their steadfast support and love.

As I said when I was sworn-in back in April, it is the people of this community that make being Mayor so special and such an honor. As many of you know, I do have some “workaholic” tendencies. So, you will not be surprised to hear me say that I look forward to getting back to city hall and focusing on the key issues before us: expanding our economic development efforts, working to ensure our future financial security, pursuing opportunities for retaining and attracting residents, and promoting transparency and inclusiveness, and …. of course, working with all of you to build Shaker’s future together.

Once again, thank you for your support!
